Club Standards

At Bradford Airedale Athletics Club, we’re proud to say we meet the Club Standards set out by England Athletics and Sport England.

These standards are all about making sure clubs like ours are safe, welcoming, and well-run. They help us keep things organised behind the scenes, protect our members, and make sure everyone can enjoy athletics in a supportive environment.

Meeting these standards means we’re committed to:

  • Looking after the wellbeing and safety of all our members.
  • Running the club openly and responsibly.

  • Making sure our policies and practices reflect fairness, respect, and good governance.

  • Creating a space where everyone feels valued and part of the team.

England Athletics have created a Club Standards checklist to help clubs review and maintain these important areas. We regularly update ours through the myAthletics portal to make sure we’re always meeting expectations and continuing to improve.

1. Club Constitution

Our Club Constitution sets out how Bradford Airedale Athletics Club is run, including our aims, values, and the responsibilities of our committee and members. It helps ensure the club is managed fairly, transparently, and in the best interests of everyone involved.

The Constitution is reviewed each year at our Annual General Meeting (AGM), where members have the opportunity to discuss and agree on any updates to keep it current and reflective of how our club continues to grow.

2. Club Committee

Our Club Committee is made up of dedicated volunteers who work hard to keep Bradford Airedale Athletics Club running smoothly. They help make decisions, organise events, support our coaches and athletes, and make sure the club continues to grow in a positive and inclusive way.

The committee is elected each year at our Annual General Meeting (AGM), giving members the chance to get involved and have their say in how the club is run.

Together, we’re committed to keeping the club welcoming, well-organised, and focused on providing great opportunities for athletes of all ages and abilities.

3. Club GRIEVANCE AND DISCIPLINARY POLICY.

At Bradford Airedale Athletics Club, we believe everyone should feel respected, supported, and treated fairly. Our Grievance and Disciplinary Policy explains how we deal with any concerns, complaints, or breaches of conduct within the club.

The policy ensures that all matters are handled confidentially, fairly, and without bias. It also makes clear how members can raise a concern, what to expect from the process, and how any disciplinary action will be managed. We aim to resolve issues informally whenever possible, but when a formal approach is needed, we follow clear procedures based on respect, integrity, and transparency.

By following this policy, we maintain a positive, safe, and inclusive environment where everyone can enjoy being part of the club.

4. General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

Bradford Airedale Athletics Club takes the privacy and protection of our members’ personal information seriously. We follow the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) to make sure all personal data is collected, stored, and used responsibly.

We only gather information that is necessary for club activities, such as membership, training, competitions, and communication. Personal data is kept secure, used only for legitimate club purposes, and never shared without consent unless required by law or governing bodies such as England Athletics.

Members have the right to know what information we hold about them, request corrections, or ask for their data to be removed.

By following GDPR, we ensure that every member’s privacy is respected and that their information is handled with care and transparency.

5. Inclusion and Diversity

At Bradford Airedale Athletics Club, we’re proud to be a club where everyone is welcome. We celebrate individuality and believe that athletics should be open and accessible to people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities.

Our Inclusion and Diversity Policy ensures that every member, coach, volunteer, and visitor is treated with respect and fairness. We do not tolerate discrimination of any kind and are committed to providing a positive, supportive environment where everyone has the opportunity to take part, improve, and enjoy being part of the team.

We actively promote equality through our training, events, and everyday club activities, making sure every athlete feels valued and included in everything we do.

6. Club Safeguarding Code of Conduct

At Bradford Airedale Athletics Club, the safety and wellbeing of our athletes, coaches, volunteers, and parents is our highest priority. We are fully committed to creating a safe, positive, and supportive environment where everyone can enjoy athletics.

Our Safeguarding Code of Conduct outlines the standards of behaviour expected from everyone involved in the club. It ensures that all members act with respect, integrity, and care towards one another, and that children and vulnerable adults are always protected from harm.

Coaches and volunteers are trained to recognise and respond to safeguarding concerns, and we follow the guidance set out by England Athletics to maintain the highest standards of welfare and protection.

By following this code, we all play a part in keeping the club a safe, inclusive, and enjoyable place for everyone.

7. Health and Safety

At Bradford Airedale Athletics Club, we take the health and safety of our members, coaches, volunteers, and visitors seriously. We’re committed to providing a safe environment where everyone can enjoy athletics with confidence.

Our Health and Safety Policy sets out how we manage risks during training sessions, competitions, and club events. We make sure facilities and equipment are well maintained, sessions are properly supervised, and activities are planned with care and attention to everyone’s wellbeing.

All members share the responsibility of looking out for one another and reporting any concerns or hazards to a coach or committee member. Together, we can make sure the club remains a safe and enjoyable place to train, compete, and socialise.
